DIY Vintage Letters
This was a super fun project that I've been dreaming about for a while. I wanted some really large letters to spell EAT to go on that giant empty wall in the dining room for a long time but all the ones I found were either too small or too expensive. Then I saw this tutorial on a Beautiful Mess and work had this giant box leftover and I figured I might as well DIY it!
I thought this picture really captured the essence of the box.
Step 1. Draw your letters (use a ruler people!) and exacto (name brand verbage for cut) them out!
Then you will end up with these giant, raw letters. Be sure they are the right size for your wall.
Step 2. I used some scissors to clean up the jagged edges and began painting. I just mixed some good ole acrylic craft paints together.
Step 3. I got a little 3M cray cray. But the letters were a little warped from the paint so they needed a ton to keep them firmly placed against the wall.
Step 4. Hang and TA-DA! Beauty! Feast your eyes...
They ended up a little darker than I hoped because I ran out of white paint, but I'm ok with it. This is a project that I had waited and waited on doing, so I needed to just finish it and move on. I'm very happy with the result. The letters are a little, umm, imposing? They seem to scream EAT at you, but I want people to EAT! I love having people over and cooking them yummy food, so please come over and EAT!
