Love Where You Live: Class Kit
Im so excited to announce that I will be contributing to the new upcoming class with Little Paper Projects: Love Where You Live!
About the class: Love Where you Live is a short 4-week photo-driven course that explores what we call home. Whether you're renting an apartment, living with family, or just settled into your lifelong dream home, there is something special about the places we choose to come back to every day. Every place has meaning. Every home has beautiful memories. And this project is designed to help you document it.
Home isn't just the place where we sleep, or the building that holds our stuff - it's what we make of it. It's the pieces that we put together. It's a sweet combination of our favorite blankets, our most treasured books, and the quotes we choose to put on our wall. It's our favorite spot to rest when we've had a long day. It's the gathering points. It's the memories that your stuff holds. And it's always changing.
Love Where you Live is about capturing the sentiment of home right now. It's as much an exercise as it is a project. And it's designed to be something that can stand alone, or be incorporated into your current memory keeping projects. To get prepped for the class I created a mini kit to make creating the book easier and faster. I am taking an art journal approach by mixing in hand painted cards and pages with pocket cards. I will add my pages and photos right into the book but will use some page protectors that I alter as my book is the slightest bit smaller than a 6x8 binder. I picked it up at Target. I chose a simple and limited color scheme of black, white, turquoise/blue and lime green. I pulled a few painted pages from my stash (learn more about how I create those in the Get Messy Art Journal 101 Class here) and then painted a few more abstracts and simple backgrounds in my color scheme. I already love the simplicity of this kit and know it will make creating so much easier each week. This is my favorite page I scripted with watercolors and below is my favorite 4x6 abstract card. 90% of my cards and pages are hand painted, but the few cards I am using are from the Moments Like These edition from Stampin Up and a few cards from the Sunshine Edition. I simply added HOME with chipboard letters a sticker from the Moments Like These kit from Stampin Up to the cover of my album. Now I'm all prepped and have even started taking photos for my book! Now to print them and get started. I usually don't do projects like these as I like to focus my energy on scrapbooking our travels, but I jumped at the chance to be a contributor for this class because I realize the importance of documenting your home. Now that we have moved a few times and see a few more moves in our future, I love looking back on photos of our old homes and I want to be sure to have this really special one captured and curated well. This class provides the perfect structure and accountability for doing just that. I hope you will join me!
