Wall-o-Love
This is one of the most wonderful places in our home and I firmly believe everyone should have one of those. So please come take a tour through our lives and our hearts with one simple look at our wall-o-love...
Heres a quick tutorial on how to make your own! This was one of those so-determined-I-cant-stop-to-take-pictures kind of projects and it took an insane amount of brain power to create. But, as always this has been done many times and much better than mine. I borrowed mine from the ever creative couple leading the way in home DIY, so please consult their tutorial for: how to wall paper your wall with picture frames for best results!
Ok! So first, I gathered lots of awesome photos and random items that I wanted to frame/just hang straight onto the wall. Then I organized and layed out and shifted and changed and added and subtracted and mixed and mashed and turned and moved and looked at and moved some more and looked at and looked at and finally called Alex. I layed all the frames out the way I wanted them on the floor and shuffled and shuffled until it was perfect.
Then I cut out newspapers to be the exact shape of the frames and made a mark where the nail should go for each frame. (Again refer to Young House Love for a better pictorial showing of these steps) Then I taped them onto the wall with painters tape and shifted them some more:
Once I was satisfied, we just nailed the nails right onto the paper and then ripped it right off and viola! It was ready for the hanging! The end result was so incredibly worth all the fretting. I can just look at it for days and everyone who comes over will stop and stare for a solid 10 minutes, it's my own version blissful awkwardness. And the best part about it is that it is all interchangeable and can be added to at any time! So let me give you a little tour of the wall-o-love.....
This is from our wedding, we did a photobooth for our guests to leave us photos and notes as a guest book. We had this made to demonstrate and it reminds me of the fun we had planning our day of I do's.
This is a postcard I bought on a side street in Paris and backed with a piece of cardstock to fit the frame. You will soon see as your scroll my secret love for all things Moulin Rouge...
This is one of my favorite corners. I love love love the hand stitched LOVE. It was very simple to stitch and it just brightens my heart every time I see it. This is also one of my absolute favorite pictures of Terrell and I. It is so candid and beautiful. It was taken by Alex (who helped with this entire project) and her husband (Terrell's man crush) Ben. Check out more of their work here: Alexandra Photography
This is a wedding card we received from a family friend and loved it so much that it also made its way into a frame.
I made this because 1. I love that flowery paper more than I've ever loved any paper before and 2. Because I really loved the silhouette trend that is going on and wanted to honor our name with our H. To make this all I need was get a piece of cardboard, cover it in gray paper, trace a fancy H from a font (which I can't remember) onto the pretty flowery paper, glued it down and hung it up with 3M sticky tabs. At first the plan was to frame it also, but now I really like that its edges are raw and it is just floating there.
This is an old record case that I got at our favorite thrift store Habitat for Humanity and hung up with the 3M sticky tabs again. I love this, not only because it makes me think of Terrell performing on stage, but I just love how regal and fancy they are, but mostly that they are hiding in the back and watching the show from somewhere they aren't supposed to be. At least that's what I think they are doing. I love being sneaky
Another beauty courtesy of Alexandra Photography. They can make anyone look good ;)
This picture deserves to be giant. We heart it. A lot. Our sweet, wonderful, beautiful, smart and all around wonderful friend Summersby (her name says it all. It's great. She's great.) gave me this as a wedding present. It is a sketch she did of one of our favorite engagement pictures. It is phenomenal!
Another Paris street purchase detailing my love for Moulin Rouge. Also above it (and in another photo) you will notice a puzzle of New York that Terrell and I put together and modged podged together and matted. These were gifts from my mom to tell us of our next years Christmas gift: a trip to NY City! We cant wait to go and share it with you all!
This is was a very special birthday gift from my very best friend! Whom I like to refer to her as Squara. She took scripture and folded them into flowers, added buttons and BAM! The most special, thoughtful and beautiful gift a girl could get :)
Some of my favorite photos from our wedding :)
The Tad Carpenter quote is so true, the part I love most about my home IS who I share it with...
This is another Young House Love steal! The old key collage is so special and my key chain seriously needed to be relieved of these keys!
And to bid you farewell from our wall-o-love I will leave you with my favorite scripture which is what is framed in the tiny purple frame above! And make sure you share all the things you've framed recently!
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners
